One of the main reasons most people get into real estate is for the flexible schedule.
It sure can be flexible!
Amanda and I work most evenings and almost every single weekend.
How does that sound for flexible?
No, really though, we do get our time off.
We often shop for groceries on Tuesday mornings, or go see a movie on a Thursday afternoon.
We work when our clients need us to work... but at the same time, we establish boundaries.
We tell our clients early on that we are 100% open to showing them a home at 7:00 pm at night, or on a Sunday afternoon, as long as they give us notice.
We also tell them that we won't be available for texts or phone calls after 8:00 pm during the week or weekend unless there's a deadline approaching.
Trust me newbie agent, when you're juggling 10-15 clients/transactions at a time, you need time to breathe.
You need a little down time.
Getting texts/calls later in the evening when you're trying to relax (and live your life) tend to wear you down.
You have to be flexible with your schedule, but also value your time and establish those boundaries.
If you're afraid of offending someone or losing a client because of this, that's probably a client you don't want to work with anyway.
If they can't respect that, they certainly won't respect you.
My two cents on a Saturday morning...
