I love the lake, it's fun. There is swimming, fishing, camping, skiing and boating to keep you busy, but it's not my favorite things about summer. My favorite things of summers at Lake Sinclair are vegetables.
Yesterday afternoon when my Donald was walking the puppies he texted me a photo: and I note that said "zucchini?" While I was typing my message back to him that said "both and some cucumbers" he was sending another photo.
Yup, he knows me well. He brought home a big bag of veggies and I was really happy. And yes, I have to agree with my neighbor that I affectionately call "garden guy" that those are some of the very best cucumbers I have ever eaten. So last night I cooked some yellow squash with stuffed mushrooms, crab cakes and had fresh sliced cucumbers and tomatoes for dinner. I expect we'll be having lots of vegetables for the rest of the summer. "Garden Guy" is my across the street neighbor and he just puts a money box, a scale and some vegetables on a table up by the road daily. For a few dollars we can eat fresh, organic vegetables every single day all summer. Actually into the winter usually. We always get our new years day collards from him too.
There are several of these "honor system" stands around the county in different neighborhoods. Lake Sinclair is a wonderful place to live, visit, and to eat great vegetables. If you'd like to know the location of one nearest you in the Putnam County area just email me at tammy@lake-sinclair.com or give me a call at 706-485-9668 and I'll let you know where to look. Also some of the local convenience stores have some for sale on their counters usually as well. Now, time to start thinking about what's for dinner.
