What I Learned This Week At ActiveRain- June 22 to June 28, 2014.

I learn something new every day at ActiveRain!  With this series I try to highlight one post per day that gave me that “lightbulb” moment.  It could be something techie, about Real Estate, about a place or person!

David DionJune 22:   David Dion       Zillow Advertising-Funding the Demise of an Industry???

If you haven’t read David’s post, I would encourage you to do so.  It is well thought out as well as informative. It’s Sunday night and I have no idea if it will be Featured, but do yourself a favor and read it.

James DrayJames Dray   Just Inspected

James is a long time ActiveRain member and has started a new group.. Just Inspected.  Please head over to take a look and join!

joanna cohlanJune 23:   Joanna Cohlan   Five Star Dining Rooms in Westchester County -Chappaqua 10514

Dining rooms aren’t what they used to be, and Joanna brings up a good point.  With a renewed interest in cooking, will we see a renewed interest in dining rooms?

Richard YatesRichard Yates    How to write 20 Blog Posts in a Week.

For those of you chomping at the bits to gather those points but not sure how to write 20 posts in a week, Richard has given you a good blueprint.

liz and bill spearJune 24:  Liz and Bill Spear   Ask an Ambassador: Beware of Sacrificing Quality for Points.

Liz and Bill’s post may well be featured by the time you read this however it’s worth repeating.  The takeaway point is worth reading it again.  What is it?  You’ll have to head there.

Robert SicilianoRobert Siciliano   Stolen Business Debit Cards atgreater Risk.

Robert offers some sound advice about business debit cards.  It might apply to our own personal debit cards as well.

Janice AnkrettJune 25:  Janice Ankrett  Is my house cluttered?  Staging in Burlington.

Cheers to Janice for her limited use of the word “clutter.’   She applied her very professional expertise to help this seller.  Read her post to see what phrase you might think about adding to your vocabulary.

Gita BantwalJune 26:  Gita Bantwal    My Favorite posts written in May 2014 with tips for buyers, sellers, agents.

Gita had a great idea to highlight some of her favorite posts because, as she said, we may have missed one of them.  And… she’s right.  I missed 2 of them!  This wouldn’t be a bad idea for all of us.

Marte CliffMarte Cliff    Parallel Construction-and Mind Twists!

You have to read this because I think we’ve all been guilty of this.  It’s easy to do when you’re writing more than a simple sentence.

Paul HendersonJune 27:   Paul Henderson    Make Happiness!

I’m a big fan a being happy and though his post is short, it is packed with meaning.

Janis BorguetaJanis Borgueta    What Year is It You Might ASK?

Janis makes a very good point… readers want to know when your post was written.  Think about how often you’ve searched for information only to discover that it’s 3 years old.

roy kelleyJune 28:  Roy Kelley   FAA Restricts Use of Drones for Real Estate Photos

We’ve all seen how aerial photos can enhance the right property, but they’re not toys.  I was at an RC air show years ago when an RC plane crashed into a porta potty.  While it was funny, it could have been very serious.  Read Roy’s post if you’re considering using a drone for the marketing of your listings.

kristin hamiltonKristin Hamilton   4th of July Trivia Questions...See How Many You Know.

How appropriate!  See how many you get right!  These are pretty hard, but worth knowing.  Oh yes, you’ll have to go back to Kristin’s post for the answers!

rob thomasRob Thomas   The Eastman Antique House in Bristol VA is Now for Sale.

We all know Rob for his beautiful photos of barns but what a great description of this property including the history.
