Judy Carr Could Only Help So Many People-I Got My Real Estate License
by Michelle Carr Crowe
I've often shared that I feel like I got my license when I was 9 years old-because that's when my mother, super-agent Judy Carr got her real estate license.
Because the truth is, when you're raised in a real estate family, real estate IS the family business.
However, I also saw all of the stress, fear and drama of selling real estate. I was happy to assist, but I just didn't want all of that responsibility for other people's happiness. I feared making mistakes, making my mother look bad, or just hurting someone, even unintentionally.
Finally, my mother Judy Carr explained to me, "I can only physically help so many people. I'd rather refer them to you because I trust you to do the right thing, to put the client's interest first, and I'll help you. But if you don't help these people, they could easily end up with a bad agents who only cares about a commission."
Ouch! Once I realized that I was actually preventing people from suffering some truly bad experiences, I finally got licensed!
