The Stand-Up Paddleboard Race Series is kicking off all summer long in Vermont! Our last post was about water sports as well, but when we saw this, we just couldn't resist!

Paddleboard Racing is riveting good fun, safe, and a fantastic way to enjoy Vermont's incredible Lake Champlain together! (for the summer-long schedule of Stand-Up Paddleboard Races, check out the dates on Seven Days, at http://www.sevendaysvt.com/vermont/stand-up-paddleboard-race-series/Event?oid=2368755).

Vermonters know how to have some serious thigh-slapping fun, which isn't something that's easy to keep to ourselves. One of our favorite stores in Burlington, Vermont - "WND N WVS" (pronounced "Wind And Waves") is enabling every possible fun lake activity imaginable (all gorgeous photo credits in this post apart from the very top one are credit to WND N WVS!).

We feel that it's also worth noting that Vermont is regularly ranked as one of the Healthiest States in the nation. This isn't surprising considering that the Green Mountains are home to mountain-biking-moms, Olympic skiers, Olympic riders, and muscled farmers. Vermont regularly offers adventure races, century rides, ultra-marathons, distance swimming or yoga-fests. Truly, there's something for every athletic taste. Each year, thousands of sports enthusiasts from around the globe come to Vermont's serene mountains to race, compete, tour, train, and luxuriate in our beautiful landscape and be amongst happy, friendly faces! (Vermont's "farm to plate" culinary scene doesn't hurt in tantalizing the hungry athletes, either).

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and there are so many incredible pictures of great activities in Vermont. But here's the Vermont Sports & Outdoors scene by the numbers:

1. 50+ Vermont State Parks
2. 273 miles of the Long Trail
3. 7,000 miles of rivers and streams, including part of the 740 mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail
4. 50+ alpine and Nordic ski areas
5. 212 miles of Vermont shoreline along Lake Champlain, the nation’s sixth largest lake
6. 200 Vermont Outdoor Guide Association (VOGA) outfitters and services ready to assist
7. 223 Mountains
8. 18 Mountain Bike Clubs in the Vermont Mountain Bike Association
9. 626,000 Residents
10. 9,200 sq. miles of land; 76 percent forested

Here's to health and fun in Vermont!
