Technical Support Woes - Darned if You Don't! Darned if You Do!

Be sure to do regular maintenance on all your digital equipment so you are not left high and dry paying more than necessary. It is only Tuesday and i have already had a very rough week. I own 4 computers, an iPhone and a Kindle. This week almost every computer or source I have to access the internet, work and email has crashed with no quick results.

A couple weeks ago I decided my laptop needed a tuneup. I got out the software from Microsoft and begain running a repair and updates. By the time that finished running, I not only had no internet access, but my usb access ports are not working, I have no way to access the internet to get the updates I need and the disk drive is not working !!!! I would say a bad word here, but it's not usually my style. So...I figured, no biggie. Not using it right now anyway, so let's just keep on working with the desktop computer. No more working or facebooking in front of the television. That's okay.

Over the weekend my Outlook crashed on my desktop. Paid eHow guy (boy) $10 to fix. He wa fabulous and got the patch started. He said it will only take 2-4 hours depending on the number of messages you have. 7 hours later a huge thunderstorm comes through our town near Milwaukee. I prayed that our power stayed on because after 7 hours I was still at 0%!!!

21 hours later, it is still running!!! I text the technical support guy back to tell him of my woes and he says oh, you are fine. Exit, reboot. You are good to go. Did that. Same issues. Now I have been without my main computer for 28 hours and still don't have a fix.

So off to the computer store I go....CPU in hand and a printout with the pictures and the arrows and the screen shot of the error messages...and they are out of power and I am SOL. So I pay the extra for the rush once the power comes back on....That was another $49. No seriously! The diagnostic is $60.92!!!!

Normally I do my own computer work. I know my way around fairly quickly but we had family health issues over the weekend that just said, "don't try it. just bring it in."

So now I have many Technical Support Woes. I am Darned if I don't and possible even more darned if i do. So I Did!

These computer monsters and gremlins are going to suck me dry! No money left! That is already $119.91 and I don't even know what the issue is yet! Nor do I know turnaround because their power was still out as of an hour ago.

Don't get me wrong. I trust them with my computer, but I am in the wrong busienss! The worst thing is that it's probably just dusty inside because I have done my regular cleaning. Who knows?

I LOVE computers when they work. I LOATHE them (and the tech support boy i spoke with) when they don't!

My oldest son is in computer graphics and website stuff at college. He will be a junior this fall. I have also told him to take the side course for repair and diagnostic just in case!!! It is just nice to have that person you trust to come right over and take care of things (like an auto-mechanic!)

Your Technical Support Woes. You are darned if you don't, darned if you do. Either way you're going to pay!
