ARE YOU GOING AWAY FOR THE 4th?

NOPE! I LIVE IN CATONSVILLE, MD!

I was speaking with one of my favorite realtors this afternoon and she asked "Are you going away for the 4th?".

My response, "No way, I live in Catonsville!"

Catonsville is the best big town with a small town feel I know. Located just outside of Baltimore, within an easy commute to DC, Annapolis and beyond, Catonsville, Maryland is a town where everyone you meet knows someone you know.  Often when parents move out or move on, their children buy their homes.  There are favorite ice cream stands (OPIE's!), favorite bars, favorite restaurants, 2 great farmer's markets (Sunday and Wednesday).  Known as Music City, Maryland, summer brings live music outdoors every weekend at Lurman (behind the high school on Sunday and Thursday) and Frederick Road Friday's!

The Fourth of July is a HUGE celebration here!
The chairs go up on Frederick Road (Main Street) along the parade route weeks before the parade is to begin.  Every shop and restaurant has a can up collecting for the parade, events and the best fireworks you have ever seen.

This year is a special celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Star Spangled Banner (written at nearby Fort McHenry).

Like St. Patrick's Day where everyone is Irish, you don't have to live here to enjoy all that Catonsville has to offer!

Get your ride on at 8:30 am with the 4th annual bike ride from Atwater's to Fort McHenry and back.

At 9:30, head to Catonsville High School with all the kids aged 2 to 13.  There you will find fun and games galore-Decorated Bike Contest, Lollipop Scramble, Quarter Hunt, Ball on Spoon Race, Shoe Scramble, Leapfrog, Wheelbarrow and Sack Races, Water Balloon Toss for all ages.  You will feel like you stepped back in time!

Christian Temple at 11 AM -for the free American music concert...that will really get you in the mood!

The Parade starts at 3 PM, but you'll need to get there early for a good seat (or put your chairs up early to mark your spot!).  The parade goes on and on with something for everyone!  12 Marching Bands, local floats, politicians in fancy cars, Clowns, firetrucks, motorcycles...who doesn't love a parade?!

You can head over to the high school at 6:30 for the fireworks Family Fun Fest for live music and food vendors.  Grab your blanket and bring your sparklers...and get prepared for the highlight of the day...

FIREWORKS start at 9:15!  I can guarantee that they will NOT disappoint!

Heading out of town for the 4th?  NO WAY!  I live in Catonsville!!  I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

Catonsville sounds like an excellent place to live, and to celebrate the holiday...any holiday. Clever way to present this terrific localism post - no doubt residents agree with everything you said at your town!

Have a wonderful 4th of July with friends and family.

Jeff
