If you are a notary looking to get loan and non-loan notary work then you must have a website. People are using the web more and more to find professionals to do business with so why not make it easy for them to find you!

I have personally found that developing a website and learning how to optimize it for the web was one of the best things I could have done for my business. I frequently get calls from clients that found me on the web. This easily adds an extra $500 a month to my income.

If you are apprehensive about where to start then I would suggest listing your profile in as places on the web that you can. Two of my previous blogs list directories that enable you list your profile for free. Here is a link to Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 of "Increase Your Web Presence For Free."

You can also do a Google search for "free directories" and you will never run out of places to list your profile.

If you decide to create a website yourself a good place to start is Freewebs.com. They have hundreds of templates to choose from, which are relatively easy to use. If you can get around Microsoft Word then you can make the most of Freewebs.

Get out there and start increasing your web presence!

Thanks for all the great info Document Diva...love the name btw!  I have a website as well and get a lot of business from it so I highly recommend having one.  I am constantly updating mine and working on optimizing it.  I'll have to check out freewebs.com because I haven't heard about it.  I'm paying too much for mine I think.

I have added you as an associate. See you around! ~ Denise

Thanks for compliment, Denise. There are some limitations with freewebs, like you can't optimize each page because your site is hosted on their server but it's still a good place to start.

A web presence is vital and necessary to be competitive in a digital age.  It is imperative to have a website that you can control the optimization.  If you can’t control the optimization it becomes and exercise in futility.

Our philosophy at needAnotary is that if you can control the optimization you have a webpage, if you control the optimization you have a website.  That is the reason why it was important for us to build tools inside of our software, to give users a level of power and control in how their site was optimized.

When you search terms related to notary, if your site is on page 5, 45, 60, 80 or worst; no one will ever find you.  Some off-page SEO is simple, but it is the on-page that will kill you before you take a breath.

Here is a mistake I see notaries do all the time.  Say they are a member of a web portal, they link to the portal’s home page instead of their Profile within the directory.  Bad decision!  You’ve giving the portal a link and not your Profile. That makes no sense!

Make a commitment to become educated on Internet Marketing and it is okay to be a little selfish in your thinking to grow your business.

As I've said many times, you don't need a website - IF YOU HAVE ALL THE BUSINESS YOU WANT!  Thanks for the optimization & site submission links as well!
