Time and a Half on Holidays? July 4, 2014 Independence Day Double Time
To most of the world, "time and a half" means that their hourly wage is 50% more on the days that they work "time and a half".
In my Real Estate World at Integrity Real Estate Services, though, "Holiday Time and a Half" means that I need at least 50% more time in the day to handle showings and client needs but 50% additional time is really not enough! When the rest of the world is "off work", I'm usually doing "Double Time" because that's when clients are available to view homes, which usually means more contracts to write, offers to present, etc.
Such is my Independence Day Double Time. In fact, it's been Double Time for several weeks. It was 10 pm before I closed my computer last night, when I finished getting two offers accepted. I started at 7:30 this morning uploading documents to Echosign for digital signatures, and calling a little later than that to cancel showing appointments on those two properties since they are now pending.
Independence Day - That of all days should remind us that we are independent of other country's rules.. we in the US make our own rules through our governing systems that we have put in place. If we don't like the rules, we can speak against them, petition against them, vote against the people that put them in place!
We are a FREE COUNTRY (at least freer than most other countries) and we have the option of working for ourselves and making our own decision as to whether we work on a holiday or not. Independence Day.. Free Country... I am actually not feeling well this morning.. allergies are terrible.. Because I live in a Free Country with wonderful internet service (THANK YOU Pine-net), I can do most everything from the comfort of my home if I need to, to handle a client's needs.
INDEPENDENCE DAY! I encourage you to celebrate our country's independence. It was courageously fought for many, many years ago by people who had no idea where this country was headed.
