A great article that is applicable to Summerhouse on Everett Bay! Neighborhood Homes and Realty embraces these virtues in the new market place. Thank you Phyllis Frankel Realty Group for boiling down these basic points to a well worded blog!

Many of today's new homes are reflective of the times in which we live, naturally. Gone are the days of the "McMansion," where square footage seemed to rise as quickly as the real estate market. Also gone is the "bigger is better" attitude and excessive building practices.

Instead, builders are recognizing the value of sound building practices which focus on green living and of a more reserved lifestyle.

The following trends are found in today's Phyllis Frankel Realty Group listed homes:

    • Simpler Living - Simpler living means fewer add-ons and fewer luxuries that, up until a couple of years ago, were commonplace in new homes. Gourmet kitchens, tray ceilings, soaring ceilings and master suites are now no longer on the top of the list when it comes to new home must-haves.

    • Green living - New home buyers are now focused on ways to cut their utility bills and be kinder to the environment. They are also looking for builders who focus on green building practices. Some important features new home buyers are looking for include energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, windows and insulation, and materials constructed or made from recycled or sustainable materials.

    • Better use of space - Today's home buyers are looking for smaller homes that better reflect a more scaled down lifestyle. They are therefore searching for ways to organize and categorize their household goods and personal belongings. Closet organizational systems, garage organizers and plenty of closet space all play an important role in today's homes.

  • Outdoor living - Today's home buyers are looking to head outdoors and entertain and relax. Many new home buyers, because of a weak economy, are staying home instead of traveling, and outdoor spaces are a great way to spend an afternoon or a weekend. From porches to decks to covered patios and large yards, many new home builders are placing an emphasis on fine, outdoor living.
