Lane Bailey, AR member with Bob Stewart & Jon Washburn of Active Rain at RE Tech South in Atlanta GA 3-27-2008I have proof and confirmation that Rain gods, along with many other industry technology experts were in Atlanta, Georgia this week at RE Tech South!

Much of the value in any conference or seminar is in the personal contacts and connections made.  I had the pleasure of meeting speakers Mary KcKnight, Pat Kitano, Dustin Luther and many more bloggers I had "met" online only.

Much of the initial information was basic and targeted to agents who didn't know yet what RSS, social media, Web 2.0, or any of the other jargon we casually throw around in the Rain is yet.  I am pretty sure there will be some new AR members from the South soon, after a day packed full of great infomation.

What I really walked away impressed by was the fact that Brad Nix managed to pull this together in 16+- days, proving that viral marketing  in a Web 2.0 world works with incredible response.  The speaker talent pool was fantastic and the turnout was good with an interesting mixture of web experienced agents and web rookies.

Mary McKnight of RSS Pieces passionately talking about SEO and blogging to a lucky attendee at RE Tech South 2008 in Atlanta GA  Kevin Tomlinson - Project Blogger alumni and miami fl condo specialist  Dustin Luther of Rain City Guide and 4realz.net talking to organizer Brad Nix at RE Tech South in Atlanta GA 2008

It was great:  to see Mary McKnight's passion in person; meet Project Blogger Alumni Kevin Tomlinson and hear words of wisdom from Dustin Luther (speaking to organizer Brad Nix above).

The panel discussions were excellent and I'll share some hints on the social networking platforms that I gleaned in upcoming posts.  The afternnoon breakout session with Pat Kitano was fabulous, just as I expected.

Hopefully this will become an annual event and next year I would love to see "tracks" with some sessions targeted to agents wanting basic information and some for more advanced topics.

Michelle, that sounds like so much fun. Glad you got to meet everyone. I'm going to Inman and hope to meet everyone in San Francisco.

Missy, it was great.  I'm still considering Inman, but have a schedule conflict.  What was different and interesting about this event is that is was smaller in scale and the "intimacy" factor with the speakers was very high during breaks.  The  best thing about the day was the hour and half in the hallway after the conference.

Michelle, by the time I heard about this I didn't have time to get off (schoool bus driver) but would have loved being there.  I take any opportunity to learn new ideas and techniques, that's one of the reasons I love Active Rain, I can learn behind the scenes without driving folks crazy and most of the time people spell it out so well that you have the answers right in front of you.  I have to keep an eye open for the next one, I don't think there is a group that just list meetings and such on here, at least I haven't found it and I'm sure someone can point me in the right direction if there is.  If not, that could be one that I start :-)

David, sorry you had to miss this, there wasn't a lot of notice, but hopefully we'll meet next year.  In the meantime there is a Carnival, Contest and Blogging Events on AR.  I think Dustin Luther's list on his sidebar at 4realz blog is great.

Sounds like you had a great old time.  I always appreciate photos from these AR get-togethers.
