Udora General Store

Udora . . . One of the last original General Stores in Ontario still in operation and still distributing mail to the local residents is looking for new owners. The 145 plus year old store has had only six family owners in all that time. Even today it is the hub of this small hamlet just north of Uxbridge.

Margaret - Yes to both - A step in side is like a step back in time - the only thing missing is the sawdust on the floor by the meat counter.

This looks like a darling spot - and you've presented it so well Kathy! I had my cafe in a small brick building with scarred fir floors - these old places are lovely.

Deborah -You might appreciate that it was used for a TV commercial in 1994 for Coffee-Mate that ran for several seasons

I can certainly appreciate that & see why Kathy! My own shop was part of the backdrop for a movie shot here a few years back in downtown Kelowna with Jon Voight and crew across the street - a big deal for our small city! 'Sunrise' - never heard a thing about it!

I'm in love with this store... You'll be happy to know that a lot of high end resort communities add stores with this look to add a sense of the past.

Debbie - And they cost a lot more than this one - It is looking for new owners - we would love to have you in the neighbourhood but you would need a change in wardrobe - It gets COLD here in the winter.
