"Ocean City, NJ - The barrier island waiting for you to discover

We are located in South Jersey, Exit 30 on the Garden State Parkway, plus a short drive across the new four lane bridge from Somers Point to Ocean City, New Jersey.  Ocean City is the most northern and largest community in Cape May County.  And we are the only community located on a barrier island.  You have four ways in and out of Ocean City ... the one already mentioned which is the one most traveled, another that brings visitors into the city at 34th Street (which also happens to be our Goldcoast Sotheby's International Realty location), an entrance at the north where you cross the Longport Bridge from Atlantic County, and an entrance at the south where you cross the Cape May County bridge system from Strathmere, a much smaller location just to the south of Ocean City.

Our barrier island has a number of identified locations which help one understand locations going from north to south.  Perhaps the best way to explain this would be to drive across the four land bridge from Somers Point which brings you out on 9th Street in Ocean City.  This is the heart of the "Downtown" section of the community (from about 6th Street to 12th Street along Asbury Avenue and parts of Central Avenue and West Avenue).

If you continue north, you enter the "Northend" at 6th Street and the "Gardens" at North Street.  These two areas are the widest sections of Ocean City.  To give you a better idea, Atlantic Avenue ends at 9th Street, Ocean Avenue ends at about 14th Street, and Wesley Avenue ends at 29th Street, and Bay Avenue ends at 34th Street ... so the island slowly gets smaller traveling south.  The only three streets that continue down to 59th Street and the other end of the island are Central Avenue, Asbury Avenue, and West Avenue.

Look for some continued "Ocean City Updates" in the next few blogs from Dustin A. Peters, a sales and rental agent in Ocean City for over 22 years now working with Goldcoast Sotheby's International Realty at 200 34th Street in Ocean City, New Jersey.
