Sellers, Let’s Have a Garage Sale!

There’s not a better time for a garage sale than now when you are preparing to sell your home. Pre-planning your garage sale has some real benefits. The following big benefits, just to name a few, can result from a garage sale:

Eliminate clutter and make your home more attractive to potential buyers.
Reduce the energy and expense of moving by selling items you no longer need or haven’t used in years.
Turn your unwanted items into cash and have fun doing it. The extra cash from your garage sale also will come in handy to cover unexpected expense, to buy that BIG TV your kids want, or to use for a getaway weekend.

When planning your garage sale, be sure to set your objective before the sale. Ask yourself the following questions:

Are you trying to dispose of household items no longer used or clothes that no longer fit?
Or, is your primary objective to sell everything at the highest possible, fixed price?

After you have determined your objective, develop your pre-sale check list and let the fun begin!

This is a great summertime suggestion. Many of us need to get rid of the stuff we no longer use. Sell it or donate it.

Diana, I agree having a garage sale is the perfect opportunity to get rid of a few things and get back a little cash. In the past I've opted to give things away...Good Will, Salvation Army, Habitat, etc. just to save the time of a garage sale...all great ideas in my opinion.

Lanre, this is the time of year that many people are trying to thin out closets or household items and I've been passing a lot of garage, yard, or tag sales lately. Somehow it seems like the Spring and Summer seasons energize many of us to get rid of the old and make room for the new. Or to just get rid of the old in general. Thanks for commenting on my post.
