Blatant self-promotion? You know it!
To stay in business, owners must actively and consistently market themselves, to speak of their abilities and strong suits in order to direct traffic to their company. It is not enough to show up and just stand in the corner at local functions or be a weak online participant, just hoping that someone accidentally glances in that direction.
Call it blatant self-promotion if you wish but if I failed to advertise and market myself, I'd be out-of-business! When competing with over 800 other local agents in my selling area, it is essential to set myself apart from them.
Therefore I:
- Get up, dress up & show up
- Introduce myself as an agent to all
- Wear a name tag with my name on it
- Blog on ActiveRain almost every single day
- Have a web site that tells of my agent abilities
- Am active in my community, volunteering often
- Attend real estate driven seminars and classes
No one else is going to upgrade me and offer to introduce me to all the out-of-area consumers looking to purchase a home here in southern Utah. It is up to me to push my real estate business forward, me! Just me.
So, when you see other agents (supposedly) blatantly promoting themselves, tell them to keep up the good work. A truly successful person wants those around them to do the same. No tearing down necessary.
