I wouldn't have believed it but I've gone from being nearly invisible to visible on the web in just 15 days and 5000 points. I've followed Active Rain for awhile but I was always hesitant about joining because it looked so overwhelming to me. Two weeks ago last Thursday I finally said the heck with it, I'm goin' in, and what a difference that short period of time made.
Here's what happened; I started reorganizing, restructuring, redesigning my business and wanted the Internet to be a big part of it. 80% of buyers and/or sellers start their search for a home and/or an agent on the Internet, that's easy enough to understand. So I put myself in front of the computer as Mr. Buyer to see what it would take to finally find Bob Edwards. I tried Appleton, I tried Outagamie Co., I tried Fox Cities, I tried Fox Valley along with any combination of Real Estate and/or Real Estate Agent... NO BOB. I finally cheated and went to our company website, whew, I was still there.
Okay, here's where the Rain comes in. I joined Active Rain and read and read and did a few posts of my own. As I read I learned more and more about where I was going with my business. I shifted gears once or twice and changed direction of where I thought I was going to go. I don't need to reinvent the wheel while I'm redoing my business, it's pretty much all right here.
Now, the great thing about all of this is; follow the guidelines, suggestions and advice of Active Rain and it's members and you'll automatically start to climb the ladder. I just noticed today that I reached 5000 points and it's only been 15 days. I wasn't after the points Per Se but more for the information and I accomplished both. The biggest gift of all is now if I do a Google search with the above criteria I can find Bob Edwards on the first or second page. The points have brought my rank up to #52 in Wisconsin, #2 in Outagamie County and #2 in Appleton. If you're a Newbie with Active Rain stick with it, the benefits and camaraderie are outstanding.
