You are looking for a new home, or maybe your first home.

There are all kinds of Real Estate web sites out there.

Most want you to sign up and give all kinds of information.

Then they sell it to Real Estate agents.

Now, sometimes, the agent has to pay a hefty referral fee.  Some of those some agents will add on an additional fee to you to help cover that referral fee.

So, to save money...Only sign up or call Real Estate Professionals directly.  They then don't pay any extra money for to work with you and in turn some of those adding on an extra fee will not charge YOU that additional fee.

Besides...when you are looking at 3rd party sites, Trulia and Zillow to name just a couple...you are seeing the same listings that are on most all Real Estate company web sites, AND Real Estate company web sites information will be more up to date.   For this reason alone...you should  stay with Professional Real Estate sites when doing your searching.

Remember, the 3rd party sites are sending you to a Real Estate Professional so why not go there in the first place!

Great advice Bill! All real estate is local, not a national site that only has part of the stats. Go local!

Your last line makes a very good point. Us local professionals really do have the most up to date information, and buyers would be wise to work with us directly.

Great point, William, though all to many people think that one site will have that elusive super home that no one else has, so they continue to sign into everything and anything out there.

Makes me shudder.  I have talked with people who sign up on all sites and then are upset because they get a half dozen calls.

William, of course, the real estate company web sites also want you to caugh up all of your information so the can refer it to one of their own agents - and the companies I used to work for charged their agents a hefty fee.  It's hard to win - unless you do your own prospecting!

3rd party sites are killing the industry.

I wish the industry would take back control.
