New Real Estate Agents: Why do many of them Quit?

By
Real Estate Agent

Working in the Real Estate Industry, I have seen a lot. Some things I still can't believe I have seen. But the main thing that I have seen is quitters.

Quitters never win.

In this Day and Age, many people are deciding to become Real Estate Agents! But some of them are coming into the field just because they heard the market was good. The market will not always be good. I mean, don't get me wrong, I hope it is always as good as it is now. But realistically, it won't always be good. And for the real estate agents, like me, that have been around for a while, you have seen the worst. I'm talking about 2008. Enough Said.

To get into this field, you have to be devoted. But more than that, you have to know that this isn't a way to make money quickly. This is a way for you to build a prospecting business for yourself. You are not going to make millions overnight.

The problem with new real estate agents, is that they see all these big time real estate agents and they want to be just like them! And that's great! Have motivation and ambition. But realize, that they didn't get like that overnight! They worked hard to get where they are! They worked hard and LONG to get where they are today!

So, to all the new real estate agents out there, don't get discouraged when after a month you haven't gotten anywhere! Just keep working! This field is not an overnight field! Keep Working Hard!

Joy - Something hard earned is enjoyed so much more than something that is just given to you.  There is no such thing as an overnight success, there are however people that work very hard day in and day out that become successful from that work.  Real estate is not free ride but it can be a really wild roller coaster.  Thanks for the blog.

I teach license law in Illinois. My instruction includes analysis of how one enters the business. If you are flat broke, you need to consider other alternativres.

It is a mind set of putting one foot before the other, and finding the "One Thing" to do everyday that moves you in the direction you want to go.  People underestimate how difficult the business is, how much time it takes to be that Super Agent, and how much you have to discover on your own. It is one of the greatest learning opportunities  of life.  It is well worth the effort.

It takes hard work, persistence and perseverance. Set your mind to it and if you are willing to give your all...you have already succeeded.

I suspect that a lot of real estate agents quit because they have unrealistic ideas about what our profession truly is.  They get their license and then discover it's far more than holding an Open House, or showing buyers through homes.  I don't criticize their leaving.  It's probably not their cup of tea.
