Lakeshore living - and how to make it yours

One thing about Lake Michigan shoreline real estate.  The homes are in a high-price bracket.  That's not to say that they aren't worth it.  I currently have two houses listed in Ganges and Saugatuck Townships that are great deals, each with over one hundred feet of private beach.  Waking up to hear the sound of waves lapping on the water's edge, or watching the sunset from your deck or the beach over the Lake are both truly wonderful experiences.

However, some people want a second home, and they want the lakeshore experience, but an over-a-million-dollar purchase just isn't in the cards for them.  There are other choices.  We have a concept here called lake access.  In this setup, several homes share a stretch of beach and maintain the stairs and other amenities for that stretch.  Local governments regulate this, usually, so too many homes don't overburden a short stretch of beach.

I have two lots with that option.  One at 408 Park Drive in Douglas, and another at 2223-4 Lake Shore Drive in Ganges Township.  The first is around a quarter of an acre, has city water and sewer.  The second is nicely wooded, about an acre, with absolutely breathtaking views from anywhere on the home site.  This is introductory lakeshore living, for a hundred thousand dollars or a little more.

Another choice is several lots I offer in the Arboretum.  These range from a little less than an acre to over two acres, are adjacent to the 2223-4 Lake Shore Drive lot, are also beautifully wooded, and -- here's the kicker -- are located between two public beaches in Ganges Township, Pier Cove and West Side County Park.  You can drive to either, but biking and walking are also an option.  For those that still want lake access, one of these lots can be granted deeded access to the lake for an additional $50,000.

Lakeshore living can be yours, and a bonus is summertime living here in the Saugatuck-Douglas area.  Great small town lifestyle, good music, galleries and theatre, boating, swimming, golfing, you name it!  The video is of 408 Park Drive, Douglas, and the walk to the beach from there.
