Historical Cannondale in Wilton, CT 06897
Located in Fairfield County, CT Wilton is a great town in which to live. It has excellent school systems and is at the top of "best of" lists in both Connecticut Magazine and US News and World Reports. There are many things to see and do here in Wilton.
Today, I thought we could explore the Cannondale section of Wilton. This area is a quaint, charming section of town where you can travel back in time. Cannondale Railroad Station, Cannon Crossing and many antique farm style homes make up this part of Wilton.
The land was first settled on in the 17th century. Originally called “Pimpewaug” by the Indians the name was later changed to Cannon after a prominent family in the area. The Cannon family owned the general store and later played a key role opening a post office at the train station.
In November of 1915 this historic part of Wilton was renamed Cannondale. Looking old-fashioned, Cannondale has stylish stores and a very trendy restaurant.
A lovely addition to Wilton, Connecticut, Cannondale draws anyone interested in history. This is just one wonderful community in Wilton, Connecticut, and is definitely worth a visit!
