The mortgage business is one that will swallow you up if you're not careful. Will there are a lot of great things about it, the one thing that frustrates me more than anything else is when they are given advice and they don't take it. It makes me want to scream: Listen to the Local Lender!
Many people get taken in by these large national internet lenders offering a lower rates but in the end they don't really see the savings that they think they are getting. I believe that a lot of this comes from not having someone to sit down with and discuss their options. If you read any sort of communications or leadership journals everyone of them will hands down agree that email is not the most effective way to communicate important information, but with all of our interconnectivity, and constant communication (and selfies) a face-to-face discussion is still the best way to explain the complexities of a mortgage situation!
This is where sitting down and talking to your local lender is a better than one of these large conglomerations, you can ask all the questions you need to and you an actually Listen to the Local Lender of your choice explain away all the difficulties and keep you stressfree!
I can't tell you how many times a client has misunderstood an email and all it took was a a simple phonecall to set up a meeting at a local Panera or Starbucks and me discussing their options with them for just a few minutes and all the pain and struggle left their faces and calm settling in!
If I had one piece of advice that I could give to anyone looking to get a mortgage for a new home purchase or refinancing it would be for you to Listen to the Local Lender, it will always benefit you!
