NYTimes Heads to Denver Colorado.

Today, I was doing my daily reading and I came across Kristal Kraft.  I bumped right into her.  She was there with Truila, Zillow and Realtor.com.  I have to say - Impressed I was.  Just want to give a big shout out and let you all know that your beloved KK - Kristal Kraft made it into NYtimes

Way to go, Kristal..

The article talks about how homeowners don't want the gimmicks, they want real facts.  They don't want the common "drip campaigns", they don't want pumpkins left on their door fronts - they want to know the value of their home - even if they are not selling.

The article mentions big leaguers like - Truila, Realtor.com and Zillow.  These sites are now offering the AVM's.  With these big hitters, now playing in our ball field, I would have to argue that now, more than ever it is so important to create a presence on line.

(I would have posted photos here - but the article also mentions she "has take legal action against agents who have plagiarized her site").

Yeah... but Zillow can be defeated... it doesn't comp right.  you need to get into the settings and think like an appraiser... I USE IT but tweak it

more than just a "presence" we need to have "the" presence... a real desitination site, that includes all sorts of information, calculators, data, hints and tips, etc., and all without being redundant or duplicative of other sites.

Tough project...

I better get started.

Thanks Christine...

way to go kristal!

it goes to show that if you write about local issues, issues that consumers really care about, then you will make that connection.

Thanks Christine, I appreciate the mention.  What surprises me is how many people read the NYTimes that aren't even in NY!  I've been getting calls today from all over the country and from people who are not in the industry, my old cycling buddies!  What a thrill.

To answer a question brought up in the comments: The attorney was hired to protect my copyright, on my words and photos.  FYI some agents, not just in Denver decided they like them.  We had to convince them other wise.  :)  As I've said before copyright infringement is expensive.  It's cheaper to use your own brain!

Thanks to all for your kind comments.  It's always nice to hear good words!

Thanks Christine and congrats to Kristal.  As hokey as it sounds, as a mortgage broker, "I feel your pain!"  This is what we go through with Di-Tech, Quicken Loans, and all the other online, get it for 3.575% come on guys.

It's a tough fight, and online presence helps, but it is fighting them on their turf.  The one massive advantage you have and we mortgage types have is that we are people - flesh and blood - who will shake the customers hand, answer their questions, and always be the point of available contact when they need guidance and even re-assurance of the process.

Having picked up the pieces of a few on-line a catastrophes I believe that is our advantage and what we need to do is get out in front of the people and re-personalize our businesses.

I read that same article in the NYTimes.  Way to go Kristal.  Publicity at its best.  Barbara Corcorcan in NYC built an empire of an agency with lots of press in the NY papers.
