Cavern Tours in California Gold Country

By
Real Estate Agent

I often think California Gold Country offers an endless array of amazing experiences for both locals and visitors alike.  This Saturday morning, I rose early, packed a picnic lunch, and gathered up my son, Randy, and his family.  We loaded up the car, and ventured the 65 miles south east, to California Caverns in Calaveras County.

Calaveras County lays claim to a variety of exciting cave and mine tour activities.  In addition to California Caverns, there is Moaning Cavern, Black Chasm Cavern and Mercer Caverns

I’m fond of California Caverns because there is so much to see.  And, on a hot summer day, the pleasant 53° inside, certainly adds to the pleasure!

While the caves at California Caverns can delight, the above ground activities can also be fun.  Randy seemed to enjoy looking for gemstones in an area set up for it, just outside the gift shop!

Myrl,

When I hear Calaveras County, I think of Mark Twain's story of the jumping frog of Calaveras County.  We visited the caves which living in Napa, and you have a beautiful family.  A

Alexandra - They still have Jumping Frog each year in Calaveras County.  There is a fair grounds in Angel's Camp devoted to it.

Bruce and Sharon - I noticed the cool temperatures right away when we approached the entrance to the cavern.  We were underground for over an hour, when we surfaced, I really noticed the heat.  But, there was a nice picnic area in a shaded area with plenty of breeze.  We had lunch, and began the journey home.

Debb - So true!  It really is about the memories!

Yolanda - I'll bet you would enjoy having this experience.

Paul - If you have time to spend a few days in this part of California, you would have a great opportunity to take any many adventures, within a 100 mile radius.
