I often think California Gold Country offers an endless array of amazing experiences for both locals and visitors alike. This Saturday morning, I rose early, packed a picnic lunch, and gathered up my son, Randy, and his family. We loaded up the car, and ventured the 65 miles south east, to California Caverns in Calaveras County.
Calaveras County lays claim to a variety of exciting cave and mine tour activities. In addition to California Caverns, there is Moaning Cavern, Black Chasm Cavern and Mercer Caverns.
I’m fond of California Caverns because there is so much to see. And, on a hot summer day, the pleasant 53° inside, certainly adds to the pleasure!
While the caves at California Caverns can delight, the above ground activities can also be fun. Randy seemed to enjoy looking for gemstones in an area set up for it, just outside the gift shop!
