Speechless Sunday Mt Fuji

By
Industry Observer

I remember as a little girl going to my grandmother’s home and she had a painting of Mt. Fuji and a small village in close to it. I always loved that painting. My grandmother started travelling in her 60’s and she did get to go to Mt. Fuji; because of this Mt. Fuji has always held a special place in my heart.

I did not realize it is hard to see the mountain and you cannot see it in the summer sometimes you can in the spring time. When we went to Japan this year we did not get to see it when we were travelling to Kyoto and I was very disappointed. On the way back from Kyoto we saw it a week later. Bob told me I was like a little girl so excited to see it. I think it was the little girl in me remembering my grandmother’s painting. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Yolanda, I find it so fascinating that you mention the painting with Mount Fuji in your grandmother's home.  When I was a kid, we had neighbors from Japan.  They had a similarly described painting in their home, and I always seemed mesmerized by it.

I can relate to that excitement. It is how I felt when I went to the village my grandmother was born in - today's Slovak Republic.

Yolanda,

I love your story and can relate in a small way. I have been to Alaska twice  and Mt.McKinley is always fogged in but if you keep looking, once in a while you can get a glimpse of it. I am sure you grandmother would be proud!
