It's a beautiful morning to buy a house!

It's a lovely Saturday morning here in Naperville, Illinois.  I am sitting here, playing a little bit on the Rain (thanks Active Rain).  My daughter, Erin, and I are watching a fishing show on TV.  I am trying to get her interested in one of the coolest sports, fishing, before her second birthday.

She is pretty cute, so I am not sure if she will be super excited about putting any worms on hooks but...

Anyway, what do we have scheduled this fine day?

I will be going downtown with my family this morning.  The downtown area is one of our favorite places in Naperville.  Bustling with activity like a major city might, but still parking available.

I will be taking a young couple out for the first time this afternoon.  We will be looking at a few homes on the other side of downtown in a subdivision called Springhill.

I look at this business as a board game.  You can always move prospects/clients up a spot on the board.  It might be a call, or an email, a meeting or a first showing.  All of these advances our realtor/client relationship.  Buying a home is a major process.  It takes time for most.

I don't believe in pressure at all.  The house sells the house.  The realtor blows the sale it they talk too much.  I try not to blow too many sales.

Has anyone played Monopoly lately?

Have a great day!

Ken

Amen... talking too much will lead you right out the door.  I step back and let the clients make their mind up.  Many times I have hated a house or loved a house and still kept my mouth shut and it is amazing the ones they do like and I think to myself, "yep, you could have totally blew that one".

Hey Ken - get her a fishing pole!!!  I just got my 2 year old (today!!!) a fishing pole for Easter and since we live on Timber Lake we are going to teach her to fish.  I got one at Target - just a plain old fishing rod for kids - no Spider Man, Hananah Montana etc brand just plain  for about $18.00.  If you can find an old Fisher Price fishing pole that is the best - but other than Ebay - I'm not sure you can find anymore.  Anyway they are the best!  Have fun downtown - I do the same thing on Saturdays in fact my Husband and Son have a store that is only open on Saturdays in Downtown Lynchburg called Groovy Furniture (www.groovyfurniture.com)!  I like your attitude - I to am laid back in dealing with clients - I don't like pressure and don't do it to my folks!!!  Good Luck today!

I fully agree there.  Show them the house and let them decide.  I hate to be pressured as a customer so I won't pressure my customers as a Realtor.

I like to call it more like the game called "Sorry". Lately we get a hot new lead and then the credit report comes from the lender and he says "Sorry" but thats "Life" we could take a "Chance" and then its like a "Mouse Trap" and we get caught in the middle. Sorry, but I could not help my self, But as to talking to much, yes it happens, and we find that with each client it is different some wonder why you are not talking, is it something you might be hiding about the home. Then there are the clients who barely say a word and you wonder are they serious about looking or are they just waiting for me to start the conversation it really is a chance either way. Good luck with the clients and your daughters interest in fishing.

Hi Kim, Kathy, Gary and the Craft team.  Thanks for reading.
My goal this summer will be to let my girl feel the tug on the fishing pole.  I hope she enjoys it.

Good luck today and every day,

Ken
