It’s not a punishment, it’s an Opportunity!
I am generally not on AR during the day; most of my cruising in the rain is reserved for late night entertainment. But the day that Kerrie announced the 20 blog a week cap I saw it and read it right away.
My first thoughts were that this was not the right time to announce another powder keg to the rain where people were still upset about Trulia and recent changes.
And my comment to her was that even though I am a prolific producer of words and other nonsense on the web, I did not think that even I was up to this challenge.
But then I took a few minutes to think and ponder on this new development and realized that it could be an opportunity for much more than points.
- There were several series that I had thought about producing that would be good for clients but maybe less interesting to fellow rainers.
- There were many community profiles that I wanted to update, and probably would not do unless someone was pushing me forward with a reward like extra points.
- There are many more educational blogs that I want to write, most of my marketing from the beginning 26 years ago has been nothing more than educating clients on why they need us, and what a great opportunity it is to have a blog to explain these things in.
- There were many blogs from a year ago that should be updated and brought back to life, what a great opportunity to bring these back to our clients’ and Google’s attention.
- And then there are the little ramblings from Bob type posts that I enjoy writing but were getting pushed aside lately since my quota of 10 was filling fast.
- Of course this also gives me opportunities to expand into new areas, like doing many more community event posts, like;
- Fourth of July posts for key cities and counties that we work in.
- County fair announcements along with a little essay for most of the counties that we work in.
- And so many other seasonal celebrational opportunities.
- And one that I had discussed with some of my staff but never got around to; featuring wooded property listings from around the state with a dual purpose of attracting more staging and appraisal projects along with bringing in the new buyers as management clients after the sale.
I realize that time is a premium for all, it is for me too, but I learned long ago that the first of any project is the hardest, after that make a template so that you can write the rest in much less time.
So now that the shock is over, it is time to stop looking at the change as a punishment and realize that it is an Opportunity, as most challenges are.
Now get to work, start brainstorming, writing a few templates, producing things that your community needs, and boosting your SEO.
PS, if you like any templates that I am using, just ask and I will most likely be happy to share them with you and help you to adapt them to your markets.
