Dog Licensing
We have a few new dogs in our real estate family at Joy Daniels Real Estate Group. The most recent was a rescue from MA. But no matter where you get your get your new dog or if you have had your dog for years - you need to have your dog licensed.
If you are a dog owner in Dauphin County, it is important that you license your dog. Licensing is mandated by state law and is enforced by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Fines for failing to secure a license range from $25.00 to $300.00. The Dauphin County Treasurer’s office maintains a database of licenses that are issued, which enables lost dogs to be returned to their owners more readily.
In the past, South Hanover Township was an agent for Dauphin County Treasurer’s Office to sell yearly dog licenses. As of November 2013, the Treasurer’s Office decided to not use the Township as a future agent. To purchase your dog licenses you still have many options to choose from.
1. You may go to Hanoverdale Agway or Derry Township Office during their normal business hours and purchase a dog license.
2. You can go online to www.dauphincounty.org and search ‘Dog License’. There is an option to pay online for your dog’s license which you can print the paper license immediately and the numbered metal license will be mailed to you within a few days after the sale.
3. You can mail your dog license application and check payable to “Dauphin County Treasurer” to:
