9 Recruiting tips to consider

Here a are a few recruiting tips.  If you're looking to recruit another Realtor or anyone from another profession to team up with you or utilize as part of your service team, consider these tips.

Tips:

1. Establish professional friendships before you recruit (networking groups etc...)

2. Keep your friends posted on the profile you're looking for

3. Develop a communication system (phone, email, mail, personal visits, seminars...)

4. Stay in contact with your friends

5. Send the latest industry news to your friends, especially new trends in the industry.

6. Ask your friends for referrals (beats cold calling everyday)

7. Edify, edify, edify (people like to hear good things about themselves)

8. Establish new professional friendships with people you were referred to

9. Start this process over with your new friends.

Bonus tip: Give tips to your friends - lol

Great tips.... It works a lot the same as when you are trying to attract new SOI/potential clients!  I don't know about everyone else... But most of my clients are friends first!

Ced. That is some great ideas. If we would only do 1/2 of those, we would be successful. Thanks, Royal..

Lanre,  I will keep my eyes and ears open.  I'm in several online networks with professionals of various backgrounds.  Some of them confide in me when they are looking to make a change.

Good list, Cedric. I do all of these things, and spend a lot of time building professional friendships. This was a down week for me. An agent I've worked with for years confided in me that he was switching companies ... and about 2 months ago came to me for advice. I spent the next 2 months coaching him on how to leave gracefully, and I thought he was coming with me! True, he never said, I"M WITH YOU, but we met several times, emailed profusely, and he said I was the only other person besides his girlfriend who knew he was planning on leaving. I went over my splits/fees and he said he thought we'd work well together. Last time he called me he gave me his quit date, and I told him what I needed from him when we switched him to my firm. He didn't say a word that he was even considering anyone else. The quit date came & went... nothing. I called him twice, no reply. I knew. Today I see he joined a competitor. What a huge disappointment for me. I tried calling to see what was wrong--why he went with them, not me, but he didn't pick up. I'm pretty down about it.

Great List Cedroc.  Eric, that really sucks about coaching that person and never getting them.  Since they didn't return your calls they might have been planning on getting free coaching and never using you in the first place.  People's first motivation is money so do you think they are getting better split at other company?

Erica, so sorry to hear about your disappointment.  Just remember the gentleman who confided in you will reap what he has sown. Also remember you'll be reaping on the good advice you've sown as well.  Believe me things will get better.  Keep your head up my friend.
