Spacious, Private and Remodeled Home 2308 Oak Dr, Ijamsville, MD 2175

Nestled among lots of landscaping and trees. Open floor plan, updated kitchen with SS appliances, quartz counters and porcelain floor tiles, updated baths. Sunroom has a beautiful wooded view, HW's throughout, crown moldings, built-ins. Pella bay window, replacement windows, large family room with FP, custom bar in rec room, FP & walk out to lovely walk out patio.

When we found our home at 2308 Oak Dr in Ijamsville, MD 21754, the first thing we liked about it was the very private feeling of the house. With bushes and some trees in the front yard and the sides of the house, and a wooded stretch of land in the back, there is ample privacy despite being on a residential street. The woods in the back also make for a spectacular view out of the main floor sunroom. The layout of the rooms and the original hardwood floors throughout the main level also immediately appealed to us. What we love most about our home is the spacious layout and flow of the main floor, with the beautiful bay windows of the dining room overlooking the front yard on one side, and the wall of windows in the sunroom overlooking the back yard on the other side. We love to entertain on the lower level, where the family room boasts a fireplace and a bar, with a walk-out to the backyard covered patio which is perfect for BBQs. "We have completely upgraded the kitchen with more counter space (Quartz counter tops), stainless steel appliances, and new porcelain floor tiles.

We have also completely remodeled the master bathroom, with a new shower (with rain shower head and massage jets), brand new tiles, a modern faucet and sink, and space-saving custom shelving. We also added a large shower to the downstairs bathroom, turning it from a half into a full bathroom, and added new tiles throughout. The third bathroom also received a facelift, with new tiles in the tub area, a new toilet, sink, and vanity. We replaced old, single-paned windows on the main floor with durable, double-paned windows with a lifetime guarantee, and replaced the skylights as well as re-sealed the other windows in the sun room. We upgraded light fixtures in the kitchen, dining room, and all the bathrooms. We had a new well pump put in, as well as a new furnace and a new hot water boiler.

In the downstairs family room, we removed the old wood paneling and added drywall. We also removed linoleum flooring downstairs in the laundry and bathroom area and put down slate tiles instead. An outdoor faucet was added to the front of the house, bringing the total number of hose access points to two. Our utility costs are much lower than we had anticipated with such a large house. Our electric bill (serviced through Potomac Edison) is usually around $100. The oil tank is filled up as needed throughout the winter (usually 2-3 times, serviced by Pepco) There is no charge for water since we have a well/septic system.

Our neighborhood is great because people get along well and we’re not on top of each other! There is a lot of privacy, with lots of great acts of friendliness. One of our neighbors frequently mows part of our front yard while she is on her ride-on lawn mower, and another neighbor has often loaned us his ladder, or fixed our mailbox that got knocked down by a truck.  One of the best features of this location is the easy access to restaurants, shopping, hiking trails, and major cities like Washington, DC and Baltimore. The I-270 is minutes away, making most commutes very easy.  We like to go to the Buffalo Wild Wings in Urbana about 5 minutes away. There are also a few nice Chinese restaurants in Urbana, as well as Atlantic Grill and Mangia e Bevi, a very nice Italian restaurant. Frederick (a 15-min drive) has an even larger variety of restaurants to offer, both fine dining and casual. For quick shopping errands, we usually go to Giant in Urbana. There is also a Target in both directions of the 355, between 10 and 15 minutes away, as well as Walmart and many other stores.  We moved to this area because the type of neighborhood was perfect for us. Easy access to anywhere we would want to go, without the cookie-cutter feeling of the houses in some of the developments around here. Ample privacy without being completely alone is something that greatly appealed to us.  Urbana has some great schools as well as a fantastic library that we go to regularly for their wonderful (and free) children's programs.
