Today is Good Friday

What makes  today a Good Friday? Is it knowing that in  five months it will be Christmas Day?  Or is it keeping an open heart and an open mind? Enjoy whatever goodness comes your way for today is Good Friday!

There are days when I feel like I'm getting older and then I wonder how much different life would be today, if President John F. Kennedy had lived? How much more would he have accomplished? How many more years have I been given than JFK and what have I done to make a difference? Politics is not my cup of tea but it does impact my life. Back in 1963 JFK addressed Congress in words that takes on new meaning for me today:

"It is not enough for a great nation merely to have added new years to life. Our objective must be to add new life to those years!"

You can't just close your eyes to the fact that with time, everything gets outdated but simple beauty does not change and that beauty can be within. Perhaps that is why people who age always say they don't feel any different than when they were younger but their bodies age and that's a fact of life. What is the secret to living agelessly? You have to fill your life with passion and pleasures. Purple is my favorite color; perhaps the secret to longevity lies within the purple passion.

Or do babies hold the key to happiness? I look at my granddaughter's beautiful face and I know that being in the state of grace means you keep your childlike qualities throughout your life. Children keep things in balance even when there are awkward moments. My granddaughter reminds me to reach for the stars. And when the balance scale is tipped, I'm reminded to adjust and I remember to laugh. You keep smiling and no matter how old you are, people are never outdated as long as you never stop growing, going, showing, and blowing kisses in the wind!

Michael....  True! No matter how long or short a life journey lasts, keeping things in balance and proper perspective is the way to live without remorseful regrets.

Debbie & Michael --- thank you for being so kind to reply. May you have a wonderful day.

Lets shake things up at your home today!

Several days ago a friend of mine posted on Facebook "It's official, I started my Christmas shopping".....I commented, "It's official, I'm done, I don't buy anything".  So lets not discuss Christmas right now....

As for the rest of your post.....we all need to keep things in perspective and take life one day at a time.  We can't get ahead of ourselves or get in our own way.  We need to be thankful for our blessings and appreciate what we have since we aren't promised tomorrow.

Your Granddaughter is lovely.....I'm sure both inside and out.

Patricia, keeping things in perspective is so important. It's not always easy but, important none the less. Counting our blessings each day keeps us humble and reminding ourselves tomorrow isn't promised is necessary. Your Granddaughter is so beautiful. What a wonderful picture.

Your grand baby is a cutie! I know what you mean about getting older but feeling way younger inside. That is certainly me. Except that my body no longer can do some of the things I use to be able to do.

You must know I love, love, love this post. And, so agree with all that you've summarized. I think the beautiful little face of your grandaughter is the perfect ending to this tender post about life.

My children and grandchildren ( and Mac ) always bring me firmly back to center. ;)

That five months will go by fast, and then I'll be on your blog wishing you a Merry Christmas in now time at all!  Yes, the way to look at life is to live in the moment, but I too wonder about JFK.
