HOA Rules & Political Signs
It is not unusual in an election year to see political signs proudly posted in residential yards supporting their candidates or issues. It is best to check with your HOA first before putting a political sign in your yard or any common area of your development.
An HOA has the right to restrict signs per the rules and regulations -
- Unauthorized signed posted in common areas are subject to immediate removel without notice.
- Take these removed signs and store for 30 days or disposal of sign.
- The HOA may notify the sign owner and require the sign(s) to be removed before the HOA removes it.
- The HOA may impose a fee as well as removal of the political sign in common areas.
If unsure of your own HOA rules, go back to the rules and regulations and read what requirements they have on signage. They may have requirements on allowable signs, size limit, number of signs, and how long the sign can be posted.
HOA have these rules to keep the community clean and uncluttered and signs are viewed to look shabby and affects curb appeal. It is best to read the rules before you start displaying your signs in the yard.
