Yesterday Monika McGillicuddy wrote a post about feeling naked, boy do I now REALLY know what she was talking about. I don't know if I'll ever forgive the AR boys for encouraging us to do this.....Hopefully I'll learn lots in the coming months about editing and weight loss...but until then, here's my first attempt (very primative) at a video blog entry.
***UPDATE*** just to let you know, I don't have a FLIP camera. This was done w/ my Kodak Easy Share camera.
Steve, LOL....I'm not sure about anything with respect to these video posts....and to be honest, I have no idea why I woke up this morning and decided to do one...
Colleen - My son offered to do one with me, and my reply was I'm not ready for that, but we can't hold back the future. I just want to know why this couldn't have happened when I was younger and so much more photogenic!
oh man - I think I peed my pants!!! I can't believe I read the word "jowls" in a blog!! lol!!! You have more guts than me right now - but I did sing in one of the music contests and I kind of doubt anyone even knew to click the link!! After a couple of shots you can do anything!! lol!!!
I really am going to do one - but I am way too sick and you would see snot running down my nose!! Oh and I have to find my globe!
Hi Colleen: Good for you ! I think to post a video, just as in posting a written post, you have to be unique. I like what you did. It's you. Be yourself, be quirky, and share it with us. The more people get to know you, the more they will like what they see, and when that happens, you will just continue to share more and more. It works that way. Hooray for You !
Good for you! I've watched a lot of videos and the ones that have the camera pointing to the subject of discussion (like the globe in this case) and the agent talking but not in the video the entire time seem to work well.
You are brave! That was well done. I don't think I want to be on board with the whole video blogging thing. But I totally see the value in it. It's really fun, having read your blogs and knowing your writing style, to see you "in person", if only in a video.
As for me, I don't know...remember back in the 80's when we had "The Unknown Comic" on the Gong Show? I think I'll put a bag over my head and be the "Unknown Realtor", or maybe that defeats the whole purpose...
WAY TO GO Colleen !! Your right about Video use. AND YOU LOOKED GRRRRREAT !!!!! I see most of the posts are centered around the "blog" aspect. We started using eVideo eMail to clients and friends with TREMENDOUS success!! Especially when you're dealing with an out-of-town client...we send an eVideo of the home and an eVideo eMail from us telling about the house and answering questions. Makes them feel like they "KNOW" us and solidifies the relationship before we meet.
I've used UTube and GoogleVideo for years, but the quality is very poor not to mention the entire Planet Earth has access rather than a focused group or person. We use the new cutting edge Talk Fusion (TF)program that allows you to CREATE YOUR OWN TEMPLATES to send videos and their hosted on the TF computer.
BUT...if you really want to see the value of Videoing besides just blogging....look at our Website at http://www.networkrealestatear.com/ On our homepage, if you click my name you come to the Profile Page and I have a Video Introduction. If you click the Video Camcorder on our homepage, YOU'LL SEE HOW WE DO REAL VIDEOS OF OUR HOMES FOR SALE AND HAVE THEM AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC. It impresses our sellers and buyers love it! I have people call all the time saying "I just watched your video...."
I'm having a ball with this thing! LOL

Hi Colleen - that was a hoot, and you did a great job! I love your humor on this, and no I could not quite see the dust on your shelves. And just so you know, that globe there really did add a new dimension to things....smart - ter. Yep!
Great job - thanks for my Sunday morning chuckle! Ann
You put a smile on my face this mornings...great video...keep it up...I think this could get you many customers. just don't think about the fact that hundreds if not thousands of people did see the dust on your shelves...LOL!!! You have a great wit about you.
Colleen, you are such a treasure. I don't know if I have the guts to do this....LOL! What a cute and clever video. Sooooo you.....I totally enjoyed and both my husband and I had good laughs....great humor and great post/video! I agree we don't know where this is going to take us....but I am excited about it. It will be fun...you just proved it!
Colleen - I think this is a terrific video, and I feel like I know you a bit better now. I suppose at some point I will need to jump into the fray and try this myself.
Colleen, no way....you are on the right track. It still is about who we are and the personal aspect. I plan on doing same....I just couldn't wait for the camera to get here. I so love it....totally sweet and wonderful. It's all good and we are gonna have some fun!
Colleen -- Great job. . .I am scared to death of video blogging. . . .is a hair and makeup artist tax deductible?!?!? Maybe I could hire a stunt blogger. . .
Colleen - that was priceless! You were absolutely charming - believe it or not. Your sense of humor is something else! And I don't know why your children would be mortified - Their mom is now a star on the internet! Woooohooooo (can I say that? Is that ok with Sally? LOL)
Colleen-That was absolutely fantastic! I applaud you for your bravery. At the station where I do a weekly radio/podcast show they used to run a web cam. I would jokingly tell everyone it appeared as though I was either staring in a bad Godzilla movie or being featured on the 11 o'clock news feed along side other bandits robbing convenience store videos. Now we've gone to streaming video which is supposedly clearer and better...I don't know, I'm on the opposite side of the camera so I can't tell. They tell me we will soon be going to YouTube. I am not sure I'm ready for this. I loved radio because I never had to worry about whether or not my lipstick was perfect. Thanks to this ever increasing world of technology a girl just can't be prepared enough. I LOVED your video!!! I'll keep the vacuum and the compact mirror handy from this point on.
OK, you made me laugh. A great first run. I do not have a flip yet and although I was thinking of buying one - my wife (tech dept) seems to think she can make this work with our "old" camcorder with a new cord. Stay tuned.
Colleen - {Bob here} You made a great point. Why not use your existing camera with MPG mode and just upload it to Utube? Maybe I'll do that rather than pick up a flip camera. thanks
HAHA......there was nothing in your teeth. And I could barely see the dust bunnies playing on the shelves in the background. I think it would embarrass my children to see me online. Luckily they are still young and wouldn't see it right now. Video will be a great way to chronicle the aging process as well. I am not looking forward to it.
Colleen, YOU are a SUPERSTAR now. You are "more" natural in video, even than in print. GO GIRL! Anyone that is willing to go in front of the camera gets an A+ in my book. You are now "cutting edge." And you are still one of the most humorous writers (now videographers) here on Active Rain. Keep up your excellent work!! : )
Colleen, this is HYSTERICAL!!! I think this helps us really get to know each other. LOL
I have several cameras, including an actual video camera...........I'll have to figure out how this works. BUT I think I'm gonna like the "idea" - especially after seeing your's!! LOL..........
Hahaha! This is just too much...I love your sense of humor! You know we all have a voice to go with the face now! Woohoo! I am just worried that if I did this it might look like...or I might look like...I have seen these but am very resistant to doing them; probably the extra eye in my forehead!
Colleen, how fantasticle is that!? How fun to meet you on camera! You're lovely and your teeth looked great too! Girl...you are brave. Now we need tutoring. Ready? Later in the rain~Deb
Man you rock. You have more guts and grit than me and don't worry, no crows feet, lines, funky teeth or dust bunnies. Maybe that's just my old eyesight not seeing those. I'm sure your family just laughed. I almost peed my pants....
Not sure what got into you... might have been the late March snow storm in Maple Valley????

That was great. Seriously. There are a couple of things you could do that would help. Put yourself in the upper third, and then be off to the side a little bit. It is a more interesting composition that the bull's eye.
But, you were entertaining for a minute. That is the hard part.
It's interesting to see how agents are approaching video. And the best part is that just like with regular blogging, we have a whole community of friends in the Rain to encourage, motivate and entertain us!
Colleen: good job. Funny, too! Braver that I.... don't know if I'll survive if the market gets to a point when we HAVE to do video's. I may have to apply at McD's.
Colleen- It's late at night and I decided to check out one last post before going to bed. I'm so glad I clicked on yours! You are hysterical, and I scared the dog with my laughing! Thank you!!!
Way to go. Colleen! You should be proud of yourself for taking the plunge!
