Tip for Home Repair/Home Improvement Co. or Individuals in Katy
My common sense tip is simply this : Call or contact via text, Email or by whatever means the potential clients if you are running late or have some type of emergency. Don't just not show up with no communication. This is very important if you are still hoping to get the JOB! This is 2014 and not 1980 here in Katy/Houston! Back in 1980 you were very lucky if you got anyone to show up within a 12 hour window if you needed something done.
Yesterday I had an appointment with a guy to look at the drywall work we need done. We had a plumber replace the whole master bath shower faucet and he had to cut a hole in the drywall behind the shower and inside where the toilet is located. In addition, we have several walls where wear and tear has left large sections with the outer layer missing in the drywall which was usually caused from being hit by furniture while being moved. our home is now 15 years old and this is normal wear and tear. The appointment was set on Tuesday for Saturday at 10 AM and he was suppose to be at our home to look at what needs done and give us an estimate.
By 11:30 AM I was still waiting for this guy with no contact whatsoever from him. I finally found his cell number and called leaving a voicemail message. i had already made up my mind if this guy acts in this fashion now before he gets the work what he be like if we have him actually agree to do the drywall repairs? Approximately 10-15 minutes later he calls me back and gives me some totally lame excuse he got delayed and mumbled the thing. He then wants to come later in the afternoon. I was really do you think I trust you will even show up and I have to wait here for several hours for you. guess again! I got his name from Home Advisor or Angies or both. There were more folks for me to pick from and this guy/company will not get any job with us.
My second tip is when you are listed on a web site such as Angies list or Home advisor folks write reviews and people like me read these reviews. Bad reviews even if one usually means this group will not be considered. Tomorrow I will make sure both web sites know about this guy. My tip is show up or make sure you don’t lie about why you did not show up! I suspect he just flat out forgot and tried to cover it up. If he would have said I am sorry I just forgot and screwed up or had a family emergency but I can be there shortly I would have given him another opportunity!
