Agents Griping About Zillow Acquiring Trulia

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

Like we real estate agents can do anything about a merger between Zillow and Trulia, yet agents are continuing to yammer about how Zillow is an evil monster. You want to know which company is an evil monster? The monster that once promised it would not be evil, that's who.

And people wonder why I want to go live on top of a volcano, away from all of the madness. But hey, I bet the top of a volcano is a great place to get Internet reception via satellite.

You can read more in my personal blog today about Zillow to Acquire Trulia and Who Cares About Realtor.com?

It does not matter if it is a T or a Z or what ever.  Realtors have sold their reputation and edge by not running REALTOR.com.

Anxiety over the merger is a big deal in the community of real estate agents.  Why?

Elizabeth - I did not have a problem with either Trulia or Zillow. I had more truble with this agents' demand for exclusivity. Not that it is bad to have it, but it is simply naive. And in this sense for me the funny thing is that purists-agents, who were so adamantly against Trulia and Zillow first became part of Trulia, and now will be part of Zillow.

It reminds me a scared tiny puppy barking at an elephant...

I guess some people just need something or someone to be terrified of.  I saw the article today and nearly missed the best part--the internet comments of gramatically and socially challenged beings that hate, hate, HATE real estate agents.  They were jumping for joy.  Not sure why.  Zillow loves agents to which they can continue to sell ads, leads, etc.  They love getting more listings for all those haters to see.

More than anything, I am simply amazed and simultaneously disappointed, at the outrage that people can feel and not stop and think through why they are even upset.

Hi Gene and Elite guy: I suspect agents fear change.

Hi Jon: I don't have a problem wtih Zillow and the technical issues that plague Trulia will most likely vanish with the takeover.

Hi Chris Ann: Why pass up on an opportunity to go online and bash real estate agents, says the keg emptying Neanderthals. It could be anybody, lawyers, politicians, their mom, the police.

Hi Conrad: I saw this morning that realtor.com is handing out apps for contacting legislators -- what we really need is an app for locating listings, for crying out loud!

Hi James: You know I love you to pieces anyway, right?

Lots of things like the Zillow Trulia deal out of our control Elizabeth. People worry about a lot of stuff that probably won't affect them much.
