One hundred miles north of Boise, Idaho lies a quaint, mountain town of McCall. Located on the shores of Payette Lake, it is one of the few resort towns that has a beautiful lake in the heart of its downtown area. It was recently nominated by msn as one of the top three outdoor towns with its abundance in recreational opportunites within 20 miles radius of the town. Primarily a summer vacation area, with the opening of the new ski area, Tamarack Resort, it has now become a winter destination as well. It was the host of the 2008 World Masters Cross Country Races in March, bringing in 1200 racers from around the world to experience the miles of groomed cross country ski trails this area offers. McCall was also recently written up in New York's Daily news as a rival to Idaho's ritzy Sun Valley and with the start of McCall's newest downtown development, Alpine Village, providing a world class shopping and restuarant area to our downtown, it will indeed offer it all for the vacation home seeker. Real Estate prices are signficantly less than some of the more popular western resort towns, and after a readjustment after the real estate boom, one can now find cute homes in town starting around $195,000 and luxury condos in the new Alpine Village starting in the low $300,000s. It too has its ups and downs with real estate activity, but regardless what is happening nation wide, McCall will still have people water skiing on the lake, booking white water raft trips, fishing in nearby rivers and shopping for real estate this summer.
