1. De-clutter - There are lots of ways you can de-clutter your living room. Remove any extra furniture, clean off the coffee and side tables, put away all the knick-knacks and any books, magazines or anything else that doesn't necessarily belong in the living room.
2. De-personalize - The living room needs to be empty of anything that makes the house your home. So, remove all the pictures, family heirlooms, and anything else that detracts from the house and points to you.
   
3. Deep Clean - Deep cleaning isn't about dusting and re-arranging. A deep clean means washing any living room windows (inside and outside), vacuum or wax the floor (especially in the corners and underneath any furniture), and replace worn out rugs or carpet.
4. Re-arrange - You may have arranged the furniture in your living room in such a way that only your furniture would look great like that. When you're preparing to sell, be sure to re-arrange your living room furniture to make the room as open and inviting as possible - even if it means you have to remove some of your personal furniture.
5. Repair - Patch any holes left in the walls from pictures you've already removed, replace light bulbs and clean the lighting fixtures, paint the room (if necessary), and repair any doors or door handles that need it
