GraceWorks seeks donations for Fuel Bag program benefiting school kids. Some years ago, GraceWorks Ministries in Williamson County became aware of the lack of food available to children on weekends and holidays. These children were receiving the free/reduced lunch program at their local schools.
GraceWorks created the Fuel Bag Program to offset this growing need to provide food for children who may not get enough food at home. Fuel Bags are small bags filled with nutritious and easily prepared foods and snacks. Teachers then discreetly pack these Fuel Bags into the kids' backpacks on Friday afternoons before the kids head home for the weekend. These food packs supplement their food at home.
This ministry has quickly become GraceWorks fastest growing ministry. The program provides food for almost 600 children a week. They are working with 15 local elementary, middle and high schools to meet the growing need.
Donations can be dropped off at GraceWorks located at 104 Southeast Parkway in Franklin between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. GraceWorks requests that all donations be individually sized. Food item needs include fruit cups, applesauce, granola or cereal bars, microwavable meat meals, easy mac, cereal, juice boxes and shelf stable milk.
Please help feed the children in our community by donating to the GraceWorks Fuel Bag Program.
