Dress Your House For Success

Home Selling Tips Are you thinking of selling your Sacramento home or condo?

In today's real estate market, it's a MUST to prepare your home for sale and Dress it for Success in selling.

Spring is here, the daffodils are in bloom and home buyers are out looking for the best house for sale.

Doesn't matter if your house is for sale in Sacramento, Elk Grove, Fair Oaks, Carmichael, Folsom, Wilton, Rancho Cordova, Rancho Murieta, Orangevale, Natomas, Greenhaven, Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln, Granite Bay, Auburn, El Dorado Hills in CA or anywhere else for that matter. Everyone could use a few pointers in this real estate market to sell their home.

So let's get started with some Spring selling tips on Dressing your Home for Success.

The outside of your home needs to scream out, "look at me!" This means, as a homeowner and future home seller you need to look at the outside of your house with a critical eye. The home buyers do.

Drive up to your house like a home buyer, look at your house from the sides and the front. Need to get that grass greener? Does the roof need repairing? How's the paint on the exterior of your home? Do you see paint flaking? The home buyer will.

Power washing is a must just like cleaning carpets is a must when you are dressing your house for success to sell.

Gena, I concure on your advice. Here in NH we are waiting for the snow to melt so the flowers can bloom.

Hi Gena,

It's such a great idea to have your seller do that exercise of driving up to their home and look at it through the eyes of a buyer.  Spring is such a good time of the year to show homes with the beautiful flowers, etc. that can be planted now.  Thanks for the post and have a nice weekend.  Michael A. Hi Gena - nice list to help homeowners get their homes into the condition that helps to create the best first impression they can create!  So very important - that first look from a buyer.

Hi Gena, Indeed a great list. I love the photo you used. In fact it looked like it should the cover of a book. The old Dress for Success booklet is out of date and dull. How about it? Maybe a new version is in the offing.

Good and timely advice.  Love spring, even though it is 23 degrees right now in Westchester County, New York I am optimistic it will warm up very soon.

Gena I think this is so important. The homes that don't look well in this market get severely punished. It really makes a difference. Buyers have way too much to choose from and most don't want to do any maintenance work.

Gena, the last listing Jacqui looked sure could have used your advice! With the market the way it is, a listing agent needs to do everything they can to make a property shine. -Charles

Judy, can't relate to the snow as Spring has differently sprung, here. Allergy season is in full bloom and the home buyers are out so it is time for the Seller's to dress their homes for sauces!

Michael, absolutely! Spring is the ultimate time for each house to show off it's best assets and have that curbed appeal sparkle with excitement!

Ann, you are absolutely right! That impression is either going to urge the home buyer to come in and see more or turn them off driving by. So very important that we make sure that our homes for sale are dressed for success.

William, thank you for noticing. I deigned it and put it together myself. I appreciate your keen eye.

Ohhh Miriam, thankful I can sey that I can't relate. That sounds frightfully cold. Hard to believe there is such a diverse difference in our temperatures.

Bill, yep the home buyers today, want the house to sparkle. They aren't interested in seeing the inside if the outside looks like deferred maintenance. You are right.

Thanks for popping in Charles. I too, have seen some of those and believe it or not I actually saw one the other day on MLS that showed a picture of a Christmas tree in the Living Room. Realtors need to go out and take some new photos of their listings if they have been on the market awhile.

Gena, I couldn't agree more.  We only have one chance to make a good first impression.
