You work with a variety of people on a daily basis - most of whom serve the same people you serve. So why not choose the ones you trust the most and link up to begin cross-promoting your businesses? You can go the cost-free route by promoting each other in newsletters and emails, or you can take it a step further and co-host an event now and then. How about a home buying or home selling seminar - presented in cooperation with a lender, a stager, a home inspector, an insurance provider, and/or your favorite title company? How about a home care event - presented in cooperation with a landscaper, a decorator, a plumber, and your local pool care or cleaning service? How about a fund raising event? You could do a cross-promotion by jointly sponsoring an event supporting a favorite non-profit or a school organization that needs to raise funds. If you all invite everyone on your lists, how many new prospects might you meet? You could also do cross-promotion with give-away items.School sports schedules and summer event calendars come to mind. How about a map that covers the territory you serve - and shows the locations and phone numbers of all the local businesses?Use your imagination...You don't have to limit yourself to cross-promoting with real estate related businesses. Why not team up with a good motel, restaurant, day-care center, or fitness center? To get you started with those folks, use my free set of "Who are you? letters." They're the letters that let you give before you get - by asking to learn more about their business as a resource for your clients.marte@copybymarte.com
