My husband and I, along with my son and daughter, just got back from High Point, NC this evening. We spent the last two days enrolling my middle son into High Point University for the upcoming fall semester.
My husband and I had split up the college tour duties that have been all-encompassing over the last two summers and this was my first chance to view the university that my son has chosen over his other acceptances as the one he wants to call "home" for the next four years.
I have to say that I was ‘wowed", by the gorgeous campus,
the professionalism of the staff and students, the academic standards required and, not in a small way, the knock out president, Nido Qubein.
Nido Qubein is president of High Point University, an accredited undergraduate and graduate institution with 3,000 students from 50 countries and 46 states. He served as president of the National Speakers Association which has a membership of 4,000 professionals and is the founder of the National Speakers Association Foundation where the highest award for Philanthropy is named for him. Dr. Qubein has been the recipient of many honors including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. He has been named as one of America's top ten communicators, an honor shared with Oprah Winfrey.
He has written numerous books and recorded many audio and video learning programs including a bestseller on effective communication. He is an active speaker and consultant addressing more than 100 business and professional groups around the world each year.
While shopping in the campus bookstore today I picked up his book, How to be a Great Sales Professional, and I'm looking forward to reading up on his philosophy on sales. I truly believe that success in real estate hinges on effective communications as well as outstanding sales abilities. I expect to be as wowed with this book as I was with Dr. Qubein. Hopefully in a week or two I'll share some tips with the group.
