NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is celebrated annually on the first Tuesday evening of August.
Starting at 6 pm anyone wanting to participate can show their support by simply turning on their porch lights from 6 pm to 9 pm on Tues., August 5th.
National Night Out is a chance to meet and spend time with your neighbors and strengthen relationships.
Security experts and police officers alike suggest that simple things such as turning on your porch lights, installing motion detecting lights and knowing your neighbors make a huge difference in the safety and sense of community in neighborhoods.
National Night Out is now in its 31st year. National Night Out 2013 involved over 37.8 million people in 16,242 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.
National Night Out 2014 is expected to be the largest ever.
