I work for my customers. I show them my value. I do what I tell them I'm going to do. I post their listings to all the websites that I promise.

My MLS sheet has everything that I can possibly know about their home/condo/townhome.

I work very hard to sell my own listings. I market them everywhere. I call in the troops!

I post on every website that I know...Point2Agent send's the listing's out almost everywhere.

That being said, I call in friends all over the US looking for buyer's. Thank's to AR, I can do that.

I am working many hour's (by choice) and I love it.

I'm worth my commission as I work diligently to help my customer's, do you?

Karen,

Oh, yes.  I am worth every penny.  I work hard.  But it pays off.  Just recently voted 2008 Readers Choice Winner for Realtor in my town.  I was so honored.   Hard work, doing the right thing does earn rewards, all kinds.

Beth,

Me too!  No customer ever know's how many hour's we work behind the scenes to get their property sold for them...

Sometimes...it end's up being less than $5.00 and hour...not often, but then again...those referrals can end up golden!

Thanks for posting...Karen

Yes, I DO!

I just posted a comment elsewhere and wondered - does anyone go to a restaurant serving filet mignon and demand that they sell it to me cheaper?  Why should I expect a steak at the price of a big mac?

Does anyone say to their doctor or dentist "How dare you charge $$$ for an office visit?" and have the doctor say "Oh, okay, I'll discount it for you?"  (now, granted some may give a special rate for people who have no insurance...but that's different, and I may cut a little off my commission to make a deal work for first time buyers or a seller in a bad situation...but it's not the norm)

Does anyone begrudge the Mercedes salesman the commission he earned because he could have sold a Pontiac the other day for the same PERCENTAGE but not the same bottom line?

If we start charing n% for "high end" homes and more for cheaper homes then won't the cheaper home people get mad?  And vice versa?

It's just like taxes.  People don't like it...but hey, we all pay the 6% sales tax (or whatever it is in your state.)  It doesn't change if you buy at plasma tv for $3000 or a cheap phone for $20 - the rate is the same.

People just need to - deal with it.  That sounds very rude, I suppose, but we get paid on a commission basis.  Period.

I provide my listings with filet mignon.  If you want a big mac, then I'm sure there's an agent who will accommodate that.

Sorry for the rant.

Karen R,

I love it...It's OK, and I prove filet mignon as well...the big mac agents are almost gone...:-)

So the reason you are worth your commission is because you post the listings on "all the websites that you promise,"  As far as the MLS sheet, including "all the information that you can possibly know" what does that mean?  "I work hard" - doesn't everyone?  So far you have indicated that you run an advertising service for 4 to 5 times what the home owners could do on their own.  Why not list specific services you provide that the home owner could not do on their own.  What amazes me is the number of responses you received that were in agreement with you.  I am not trying to be critical, but just to say think like the public paying for your services and justify your commission with that in mind.

How about sending an e-flyer out to your e-mail list with the title "Who Do You Know...yada yada yada" I do that occasionally with my listings...I'm not sure why I don't do it with all of them though.

Dan,

Excuse me, however...It mean's I do what I promise. I post my listings on over 25 websites, and I work long hours making sure the information is accurate and that everything that the customer tells me is on each and every site.  I also, make sure there are pictures, at least 6 and almost always 12 or more so the buyer's can get a feel of what the place looks like.  I find the local schools, and I do a great job.

I do not understand what you mean by this comment:  "So far you have indicated that you run an advertising service for 4 to 5 times what the home owners could do on their own. "  Perhap's that you are unaware that some of my customer's do not own computer's nor do they know how to use one, so my value is that I do.

Why don't you write your own blog on "What the home owner could do on their own"? I'll be the first to read it. My customers, many of them, appreciate what I do for them.  Not everyone is computer or internet savvy... I have a customer, who BTW was a referral through AR who is 32 and I MAIL him the listing's b/c he doesn't like the computer...

So, I am worth every penny that I earn!  I work hard...actually today at this time 9:32pm, I have been working for 10 hour's as I do most day's...As I have about 15 buyer's right now and about 3 listing's to do in the next few days.

And HEY, I DO THINK LIKE THE PUBLIC AND I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE AN HONEST CARING LIKE ME TAKING CARE OF ME!

Karen not being a Realtor, I know plenty of great ones out there that make the job look seamless. So, I truly appreciate that because I do not want to know the details, just the end result.

And I have a client who I called just yesterday that truly appreciated the follow up to know how her progress was going. The little things...

Your a fine agent, Karen. Finding a good agent is tough. Your an agent that scans the MLS and searches for the best deals, the greatest deals in the market, which exist. Your an agent that uses the mls to her advantage to market clients properties aggressively. What more could anyone ask for? Have a great weekend.
