If you missed out on the Back 2 School Expo last weekend, you’ll want to take advantage of this upcoming Tax Free Weekend, starting Friday, August 8, and ending on Sunday August 10. Yes, it’s a Sales Tax Holiday in Texas for most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks priced under $100 from sales. Shoppers can expect to save approximately $8 for every $100 spent.
See the List of Qualifying Items that are Tax Exempt this weekend only. Subject to some criteria, all sales of qualifying items made during this holiday period qualify for the exemption, including items sold online, or by telephone or mail. Lay-Away plans can be used again this year to take advantage of the sales tax holiday. See FAQ for more information on the Texas Comptroller’s site.
