We need to break up.... Its not working

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Realty Specialists Inc.,
Crying GirlDear John,
I care about you!  We've known each other for years!
I trusted you!
I love you, I really do.  But listen.....
Its me
Its not you
You call me late at night and ask questions,
You want things explained,
You want neighbourhood details and perspectives
Deep personal back ground info
You want property histories.... What sold on the street? How was it inside?
I know you are seeing properties with other agents.

Stop the denial.
We need to sign a Buyer's Agency or I refuse to be your emotional information center and data bank anymore....
I cannot handle the late night emails and phone calls that demand immediate attention without your mutual commitment.
You tell me.....
I cannot commit to you without your commitment to me.

so.....

It's over between us...  I cannot handle the lies.

Classic post, David!  We don't need any one night stand showings.  Commit, or go away!

"You don't have to do anything, we found the property online.  Just need you to write the contract.  You don't have to do anything, you just show up and get paid 3%."

A good reminder to get a buyers agency agreement signed. There are buyers who will text/call agents all over town soliciting opinions and advice.

This is classic.  I loved the post.  I needed a couple of Dear John letters to buyers and sellers when I started out, too!

BAM.  We're in this business to not only help people, but to make money and support ourselves.  People like this just aren't part of our business plan.  Good blog.

David Pylyp just received an email from the buyer about 'breaking the relationship' - and I did not cry! In fact I jumped with joy, because that's what I wanted to happen!

Some buyers don't deserve our agreements!

Breaking up is hard to do. But without a commitment from a buyer, we are just waisting time.

Love it! So much humor in reality! I have found that a lot of those folks just don't understand how I earn a living. Some are just jerks, and some are just takers.

This was a funny read.  Yup, you got a Play-a . . . not a Buy-a

David, this is priceless.

And you know the worst part, right?  When your play-a is playing you, he/she's playing with me.  Yup, I'm the mistress here.  I can figure that out when I've gotten 2 or 3 calls or emails from someone who's clearly a consumer and yet is asking questions or making statements that are above their pay-grade, and I know they've gotten something from someone else.

Yup, by call #3, we're in a committed relationship, or not.

Funny post. So true.

David,  Sometimes we need to exercise tough love. No commitment from people means they don't get the best of us.  We are not toys to be played with.
