After attending a recent Open House on a beautiful summer day I decided to photograph the Rip Van Winkle Bridge which is one of the bridges connecting counties across the Hudson River.
This bridge connects Greene County and Columbia County. It would not be easy getting to Catskill or Athens from Hudson without this bridge. It is also a connection to the New York Thru-way (87).

Tammy I have the same issue at times. I have a love hate relationship with bridges. Love the structures but some times I can't go across.
Praful one of my favorite subject when I am a passenger.
Ed it does look a bit different from some of the other bridges.

What the heck is going on there Jennifer? I see a speck of a car in the distance on the RVW bridge. Everybody must be sleeping!

Nice photos! I am one of those people who can enjoy the beauty of a bridge from a distance but I close my eyes when I am on them (as the passenger, of course!) as there is something about them that scares me!

I once had a chance to be under the Bay Bridge in Annapolis in a boat. I got some cool pictures then.
I also grew up on the Mississippi River and I know about long bridges.

Jennifer, the RVW Bridge is pretty cool, but being in the NY area I expected to see a few cars.

Hi Jennifer, Many of the old railroad bridges tooked like that, and were converted into road bridges. Great photos.
