Many people ponder this question when considering a Sun City Grand, Sun City West, Corte Bella or Sun City Festival home purchase. Some clients have had a pool or spa previously, and some would like to advantage at this time in their lives.
Desire
Owing a personal swimming pool can be a glorious experience. You can entertain, dine and have enhanced, backyard. Hopefully, you will also have peaceful hours to view the serene waters.
Need
A certain group needs a pool for specialized exercise. Water aerobics has helped many people with their arthritis, mainly mobility. I use the pool to swim laps every day for my stiff joints.
Should I consider a Saltwater or Chlorine pool?
There is always disagreement about the advantages and disadvantages of both. I have previously owned a chlorine pool and have swam in saltwater.
Saltwater Pools
From the information, I have gathered; Saltwater pools use dissolved salt in lieu of chlorine tablets to keep the pool sanitized and clean. The salt uses electrolysis to break down the sale and in turn adds the salt to the water. With any pool choice, it is imperative to maintain the pH level of the water on a timely basis. You must have a salt-to-water ratio level that is constant.
One common misnomer is that you will feel as though you just came out of the ocean. The water does not leave salt deposits on your skin and taste salty.
Chlorine Pools
Chlorine Pools have been the most-common type built for many years. They are equipped to filter and chlorinate the pool. Several owners are happier to use the chlorine tablets in a floating device to disburse the proper amount of chlorine. You must also maintain the pH balance in your chlorine pool.

In most of the active adult communities, they provide ample swimming options.
Sun City Grand Pools
Adobe Spa and Fitness Center has an indoor pool for walking and laps. There are two outdoor pools;

Sun City West Pools
Beardsley Fitness Center is complete with an Olympic size indoor pool. This swimming pool was a complete remodel this year. The pool is available for leisure and lap swimming. The telephone number for questions is 623/544-6524.
Kuentz Fitness Center has an outdoor leisure and lap pool. There is a large indoor spa for residents use. They can be reached by dialing 623/544-6580.
Palm Ridge Fitness Center has three pools available. The outdoor pool is saltwater with several waterfalls and outdoor spa. The indoor options are a separate lap pool and one for walking or jogging. The indoor facility also offers two spas. They are available for answering all questions at 623/544-6580.
R.H. Johnson Fitness Center has an Olympic outdoor pool that can provide diving, leisure and lap swimming. The R.H. Johnson facility also offers two separate spas that re temperature controlled at two different temperatures. Please call for more information at 623/544-6524.

Sun City Festival Sage Fitness Center

I think I want my own!
If you choose to purchase a home with a pool, in an Active Adult Community in Arizona, do your due diligence. Hire a certified Home Inspector.
The Inspector will inspect all equipment pertaining to the optimum operation capabilities it has to offer. Many of the pools have sophisticated vacuuming efficiency. When I had my pool in California, it was all done with a very long sweeping like device.
Another concern may be the heating potential. Numerous residents have chosen to use solar panels for their homes in Arizona. This gives them the convenience of harnessing the sun power, which we have abundant amounts of, to heat their pools and cool their homes. Certain individuals prefer gas capability.
If you elect to design and landscape your backyard with a swimming pool, pay attention to the specifics. Each Active Adult Community has its rules and regulations as well at the State requirements.
Authenticate your builder. Verify their start and ending date. Secure decisive references and competence. Recognize what is most critical for your enjoyment. Landscape to enhance your surrounding, so they are gratifying to you!
I personally prefer to benefit from the community pools in my area, Sun City West. I swim approximately five miles a week. I appreciate the outdoor venue in the summers and the indoor for winter. There are several options for aquatic expecise programs in the community to accommodate varied capabilities.
