The Courtesy of a Response Is Appreciated
Debbie is quite right....It is so important to a Seller to have feed back response.
I had a listing in which the seller knew each time someone entered her vacant listing through the alarm system. I always kept her informed because I knew she would know when someone showed the house.
Then the anticipation would begin and she would send tons of texts wanting to know what the feedback was. Realtors... please provide feed back!
The Courtesy of a Response Is Appreciated
I get it, these are busy times in real estate. That said we all should learn how to balance our time and perform effectively in our daily businesses. That includes working well with others and playing nice with our colleagues.
When showing properties, it is so helpful when the showing agent gives feedback on the showing. This enables the listing agent to go back to the seller with real issues that hopefully the seller will take seriously. If a price adjustment is needed, having outside confirmation can sometimes do the trick.
The offices, showing centers and MLS systems have made it so easy by emailing the agent and asking them to complete the online feedback request. They can also be texted. These go out automatically after the showing. It doesn't take but a half a minute to do but agents tend to ignore these requests or don't even bother.
If the listing agent tries to follow up with a personal phone call you are likely to go to voice-mail. If you leave a message you are likely to have your message go unanswered. If you ask the agent to call you back, email or text it is best to not hold your breath. It has become the exception for any agent to respond, I guess they are just too busy or don't want to be bothered. Or maybe they think the feedback has been given, "My buyer didn't want to buy it".
Meantime, the seller is waiting and hoping to hear back from the listing agent with any news of how the showing went. The bottom line is the buyer did not like the house enough to make an offer and the buyer's agent either can't remember showing it or doesn't want to spend anymore of their time on this property. They have other things to do.
So even though the courtesy of a response is appreciated it generally isn't happening these days unless of course you are lucky enough to receive an offer, then you know. I tell my sellers that I will attempt to get feedback but the bottom line is if we don't see an offer, we know to move on, that there wasn't enough interest.
