Since I wanted to go above and beyond, I took it upon myself to eat out every night this past week to try out some restaurants. Some I have tried before, and some new.
Let me start out by saying that if you are looking for italian food, lok no further! Salerno's- 3921 E. Guadalupe Rd. 480-892-0040 Located just west of Guadalupe and Recker is amazing. They do not deliver so you will have to either call them and pick it up or dine in. The pizza is excellent. Best in Phoenix area! The other dishes when ordered for pick up were also large servings and were delicious. You can not go wrong here! (Pizza is must!)
Sushi your kinda thing? I have tried quite a few places and have to admit, although it sounds like a wierd name and gimmick, the sushi here is awesome! KC's T.V. Sushi Bar serves up some excellent sushi as well as other dishes. We tried the Las Vegas Roll ( amazing ) several other rolls, The chicken teriyaki bowl and an order of pot stickers. ( The sauce for the pot stickers is spicy and the reason I wil definitely go back! It has a flavor I can not describe but is something I will crave for everythime I pass this place up) It is located on the Northwest corner of Gilbert and Guadalupe--right behind the bank.
Ok, even though I already had Sushi, I had to try some more asian food. AH- SO is a japanese steak house where they throw knives around and give you a lil' bit of a show with your meal. The food is great but the service could be better. Altough this is japanese food, the servers speak Korean. Sorta wierd, but oh well. Stil, the food is great and definitely worth going to. Average meal is about $14- $24 with the best one being about $29.95 The Ah -So special. I tried the chicken and shrimp this time and it was fabulous. The fried rice is made in front of you with vegetables. I recommend going in the evening. The price is the same as lunch menu and you get a li' bit better show with your meal. Great place to network... If only you and a guest go, they will seat you with other people to fill a table. Located just north of Baseline on Gilbert Rd. in the Trader Joe's parking lot. ( Faces Gilbert by Applebees)
Of course, there are your regular chain restaurants here as well. But if you are new to the area and like mexican food. A must is Filiberto's ... Several locations. Inexpensive meals that are authentic. if you have the stomach for it, they make fresh Menudo on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Any other places you wish to know about? Just e-mail me and ask.... georgegalvan@arizonahousetohome.com
Next Gilbert post will offer some family restaurants here in Gilbert. Let me know if you try these restaurants out!
