Do agents offer lower fees to compensate for their lack of knowledge????

Have you ever noticed how many aMediocrity is not for megents compensate for their lack of sales knowledge by offering reduced fees to sellers to entice them into signing a listing contract. This practice, hurts the seller because it limits their agent pool, it also hurts every agent in the business by lowering the standards in our industry.

Real Estate Agents are defined as professionals; (those with learned knowledge) I believe the time has come for us to start acting the part.

There are those in the know saying that they have never seen a better time to buy real estate.  I am saying that never before have homeowners needed the services of professional agents to market their home for them, as they do in our current climate.

Agents who have no clue how to market themselves, certainly are not capable of proficiently marketing a home for a seller.

My question for the many agents that compensate for their lack of skills by offering low fees and high prices, is why not improve your skills and give our industry a much needed boost?

Or....  if you are satisfied with being mediocre why don't you get out of the business because your desire for mediocrity hurts everyone and I am including homeowners!

Agreed...Real estate is not unlike anything else...you get what you pay for...why trust one of your largest assets to less experience or the lowest bidder ?

I know agents who routinely offer lower fees and they have been in the business for years.  If they sat down and calculated how much commission they have lost over the years, I bet they would cry.
