With the Japan series behind us and three spring training games left over for today, Major League Baseball is set for the "Real" Opening Day. And how fitting is it that opening day is held in the nations capital as the Washington Nationsls take on the Atlanta Braves. For many years it was tradition that the Cincinnati Reds got the distinction of opening day, but I think that this is a fitting opening for the nation. Tonight's game will be broadcast on ESPN at 8:05 EST.

So many teams this year have changed the look of their stadiums that I could write an entire post just about that. Some teams will put on new uniforms this year for the first time. Some kids will step out onto a major league field for the first time in their young careers. Some teams will look at new players as teammates instead of enemies. All in all the off season held a lot of changes. For the most part, those changes have taken place as the teams are now at their respective 25 man roster.

I think for baseball, for the players, for the coaches, and for the fans, tonights opener is long overdue. It is time to stand up and here the roar of the crowd and smell the hotdogs, pretzels, peanuts, and beer in the air. I know for me, at 8 pm tonight, I will be glued to the tv. This sports fan lives for this.

Danny, I agree.  I have a buddy who is a Red SOx fan and is taking bets that they will go further than____? He will actually let you pick from the rest of the field.  Who do you think I should pick?  I'm leaning towards the Cubs or Mets.imbu

I went to the Dodgers-Red Sox exhibition game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum last night.  What a great way to start the season.  It was so weird to see a diamond on what is usually a football field.  Left field was so short!  Anyway, everyone had fun and it's Play Ball!!

We're actually pretty excited around here knowing we'll be visiting definitely 2 and possibly 3 MLB Stadiums this summer in one trip.   Thanks for getting me all hyped all over again.  ***Thankfully one of my boys has a game tonight and I'm already ready - already!
